
JiaJi (Jay) Lin – Graduate Student
Jay was born and raised in New York City in the borough of Queens. He received a dual B.S. in Chemistry and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from New York University. After graduation, he worked as an associate engineer and later as an engineer supervisor/project manager at Innoveering, an R&D aerospace and defense company in Bohemia, NY. Jay joined the Walton group in Fall 2022 as a Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Ph.D. student. In Fall 2025, he also joined the Energy Innovation Lab, headed by his co-advisor Dr. Bachir El Fil. His research focuses on the material design of hierarchical mesoporous silica-hygroscopic salt composites for atmospheric water harvesting and understanding the water sorption mechanism within these composites. Outside of research, he enjoys going hiking around Atlanta, playing badminton and watching movies.
